SANBI is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated, professional and highly responsible person to provide coordination, project reporting and logistical support on a permenant basis as a Project Officer.


The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated, professional and highly responsible person to provide coordination, project reporting and logistical support to the Head of the Biodiversity Science and Policy Advice on the work being undertaken at Branch level.


This position requires the successful candidate to be in a possession of a relevant 3 year tertiary qualification, (natural sciences will be an added advantage) enhanced with 5 years’ relevant working experience. This position calls for good communication (written and verbal), analytical skills, and excellent interpersonal relations. The successful candidate must be highly proficient in the MS package, possession of valid code B driver’s licence with one years’ practical driving experience and willing to travel nationally. 

Key responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible for:

  • Provide project management support for Biodiversity Science and Policy Advice with initiatives and projects;
  • Plan, coordinate and manage logistics and travel for Biodiversity Science and Policy Advice meetings and workshops;
  • Render financial and administration support to Office of the Head:  Biodiversity Science and Policy Advice;
  • Conduct basic research, compile reports and presentations and
  • Develop and maintain databases and maintain an effective filing system.


SANBI offers an annual salary of R334 545.00, and additional fringe benefits.
