SANBI is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and service driven person with a passion for good to provide financial support services on contract ending 31 march 2020 as a Senior Accounting Clerk.

Description

The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) requires a highly motivated and service driven person with a passion for good to provide financial support services for the Biological Invasions Directorate, by assisting the Chief Accounting Clerk and play a supportive role to the team.

Requirements

This position requires the successful candidate to be in possession of a Grade 12 certificate enhanced by minimum of 5 years’ relevant working experience in finance and administration. The successful candidate must have problem solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines.  It is essential for the incumbent to have sound computer skills and experience in MS Office, and it would be advantageous if the incumbent has familiarity with Flopac or similar accounting packages.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to maintain sound interpersonal relations and have an excellent spoken and written command of English, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

Key responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible for:

  • Render financial and procurement support – capture and coding of orders, invoices onto flopac, prepare invoices, procurement of goods and services and handling of petty cash;
  • Creditors – Reconciliation of creditors accounts and payments remittances, follow up outstanding invoices, resolve account queries and manage filing system for creditors invoices;
  • Administration – Efficient running of the office, effective filing, general support work and assist the vehicle booking for the Directorate.
