May Day Meander at Lowveld National Botanical Garden

Sunday May 15th saw the annual May Day Meander, a walk and wine tasting event, bringing over 400 walkers and wine lovers together.  Riverside Park was also celebrating its 21st birthday.

"Wine in a bottle does not quench thirst." As George Herbert said – Obikwa was in agreement with him as they opened their bottles to the walkers.

Walkers followed the quirky Obikwa route markers leading them from Emnotweni Hotel to the four wine stating stations and into the Lowveld National Botanical Garden. One marker read: “I’m not a wine lover, I am a fermented grape nut." the walkers were treated to a variety of wines by Obikwa and received a different memento of the event from each tasting station.

A Sunday wine tasting event would have been incomplete without great music.  Outstanding live performance kept everyone on their feet while the gentle effects of great wine assisted the shy ones to catch up with the dancing crowd.   Awesome prizes added more fun to the event; one participant had to imitate Trevor Noah’s hilarious comedy moments to stand the chance of winning a fabulous prize.

Ford exhibited their latest trendy cars, and also offered shuttle services for attendants from the garden to the park and ride situated at the hotel.

That would the world be without Kiddies?  Moms and Dads who brought their kids appreciated that their offspring were offered variety of juice to quench their thirst during the walk, and they enjoyed themselves at the jumping castle.
