The SANBI Restoration Team has received an award from SANParks recognising its ‘significant and generous support for conservation in the Table Mountain National Park’. The award was handed over to the team on 28 September 2013 at the opening of the Restoration Trail at Tokai Park.

The Restoration Team comprises of Anthony Hitchcock, Tony Rebelo, Julia September, Victoria Wilman, Louise Nurrish, Ntsindiso Zide and Welcome Mange.

Together they have been working on restoration at Tokai Park since 2005. Thousands of red listed plants have been propagated and planted back into the park in an effort to restore the critically endangered Cape Flats Sand Plain Fynbos that occurs on the site.

Unsung modern heros. Congratulations to all of you. I hope big corporations in their advertising and marketing start using you and your efforts as role models for our children and youth. Every individuals effort can make a difference.
